Hope Cove Beach

Location:
South Devon.
Description:
Hope Cove is a picturesque sandy cove with a harbour wall. Just to the north of the harbour is another sandy beach with rock pools called Mouthwell Beach. Facilities are close to both beaches and there is excellent walking and great scenery around Bolt Tail to the south.
Safety:
Signs warn of rip currents, risk of getting cut off at high tide and large breaking waves. Also not to use inflatables when windy. See Beach Safety Guide.
Access:
Access is via slipways at Hope Cove and a sloping path at Mouthwell beach.
Dogs:
Dogs allowed all year at Hope Cove but on leads. At Mouthwell Beach dogs are banned from 1st May to 30th September (10am to 7pm).
Directions:
Hope Cove is approximately 23 miles from Plymouth. Take the A379 from Plymouth into south Devon. About a mile after Aveton Gifford, at the Bantham Cross roundabout go straight across onto the B3197 (signposted to Salcombe). Alternatively approaching from the Totnes direction, take the A381 and A379 until you reach the Bantham Cross roundabout (shortly after Churchstow) and turn onto the B3197. Follow the B3197 road until it meets the A381 and turn right onto the A381. After several miles turn right onto a road signposted to Galmpton and Hope Cove. Drive through Galmpton and then down to Hope Cove.

1 car park just above Mouthwell beach. There is also a small car park to the south of Hope Cove. Also some road parking.
