Devon Beach Guide

Elender Cove Beach

South Devon.
Elender Cove is a picturesque sandy cove surrounded by rocky scenery including the impressive jagged bulk of Gammon Head. Unfortunately there are no facilities or parking and final access to the beach is difficult. There is also a smaller beach called Maceley Cove, where access is easier.
No details available. See Beach Safety Guide.
Access to Elender Cove beach is via a very steep path and a climb over rocks. Access to Maceley Cove is via a sloping path, not as steep as Elender Cove.
Dogs allowed all year.
Elender Cove is about 1 mile from the Prawle Point car park, which is about 8 miles from Kingsbridge and about 28 miles from Plymouth. Take the A379 from Plymouth and follow the A379 into south Devon until the Palegate Cross roundabout. Alternatively approaching from the Totnes direction, take the A381 from Totnes until the Palegate Cross roundabout. At the Palegate Cross roundabout turn onto the B3264 and follow this road to Kingsbridge. Approaching Kingsbridge turn right onto the A379 and follow the A379 through Kingsbridge and out of Kingsbridge to the east, continuing on the A379. At the village of Frogmore, turn right (signposted to East Prawle). Follow this road for about a mile and then turn left at a junction (again signposted to East Prawle). Continue on this road through the hamlet of Ford. Then shortly after Ford at a junction turn right and then follow this road for several miles until East Prawle. Drive through East Prawle and follow this road to the Prawle Point car park. Park here and walk the coast path west to Elender Cove.
