Hollicombe Beach

English Riviera.

Hollicombe Beach is a nice sandy beach on the coast between Paignton and Torquay. The beach is usually quiet as there are no facilities and limited parking, but there is a nice park called Hollicombe Park above the beach.

From Hollicombe Park there is a tunnel under the railway line leading to a slipway down to the beach. There is also a foot bridge over the railway line and then some steep steps down to the beach.

Dogs banned 1st May to 30th September.

Paignton is 29 miles from Plymouth and 24 miles from Exeter. From Exeter take the A38 and shortly after Exeter take the A380 (signposted to Torquay) and follow the A380 past Newton Abbot to the outskirts of Paignton. At the Churscombe Cross roundabout turn left onto the B3060 (signposted to Paignton). Follow the B3060 into Paignton and where the B3060 meets the A3022, turn left and drive north to Hollicombe. Alternatively from the Plymouth direction, take the A38 and at Marley Head turn onto the A385 (signposted to Paignton) and continue on the A385 through Totnes to the outskirts of Paignton and at the Tweenaways Cross crossroads drive straight across onto the A3022 (signposted to Paignton town centre). Follow the A3022 through Paignton town centre and park in the road by Hollicombe Park. Alternatively park at Paignton and walk the coast path to Hollicombe (20 minutes walking) or park at Torre Abbey Sands and walk to Hollicombe along the A3022 (approx 10 minutes walking).

Free road parking by Hollicombe Park, with space for about 20 cars, but limited to 4 hours. Alternatively park in Paignton or at Torre Abbey Sands.

No toilets by the beach. Nearest toilets are at Preston Sands at the north of Paignton beach (about 10 minutes on the coast path).
