Mothecombe Beach

West Devon.
Description:
Mothecombe Beach is a nice sandy beach on the South Devon coast. The car park and facilities are a 10-15 minute walk from the beach. Also within walking distance from the car park is Coastguards Beach. Coastguards Beach is a sandy beach on the west shore of the river Erme, with rock pools by the river mouth.

Access:
Access to Mothecombe beach is via a path across a field, not suitable for wheelchairs. Coastguards Beach is accessed via a slipway, but the beach is too far for wheelchairs.
Dogs:
Dogs are not permitted on Mothecombe Beach between 1st May to 30th September. They are welcome on Coastguards Beach all the year round.
Directions:
Mothecombe is about 10 miles from Plymouth. From Plymouth take the A379 to cross the Laira Bridge to Plymstock and continue east into South Devon on the A379. Alternatively take the A379 west from South Devon. A couple of miles east of Yealmpton, turn south (signposted to Mothecombe). Continue on this road for 2-3 miles until Battisborough Cross. Here turn left for Mothecombe (signposted to Mothecombe) and follow this road for about a mile to the Mothecombe car park. After parking walk along the lane until the entrance to the field path on the right and then take the field path to the beach. To access Coastguards Beach continue to the end of the lane.
