Devon Beach Guide

Cellar Beach

West Devon.
Cellar Beach is a small pebble and sand beach on the shore of the Yealm River. Parking and facilities are at Noss Mayo and its a 30-40 minute walk to Cellar Beach. But the river side and woodland walk is very pleasant and it is well worth continuing on the path past Cellar Beach up to Gara Point and along the coast path.
No details available. See Beach Safety Guide.
The final path to the beach is quite steep.
Dogs allowed all year.
Noss Mayo is about 10 miles from Plymouth. From the Plymouth direction cross the Laira Bridge on the A379 and follow the A379 to Yealmpton. Alternatively from South Devon take the A379 west to Yealmpton. At Yealmpton turn south onto the B3186 which is signposted to Newton Ferrers (4 miles) and Noss Mayo (5 miles). Follow this road to Newton Ferrers. At Newton Ferrers, after the shops on the right, turn left (signposted to Bridgend, Noss Mayo and Stoke Beach) and follow this road down to Bridgend and then up to Noss Mayo and there is small car park at the creek. Note that the creek is tidal and part of the parking area is under water at high tide. From the car park walk along the small road along the south banks of Newton Creek and the Yealm River.
